Corbett National Park is India's first and finest national park. It spreads along the Ramganga River and is situated near " Ramnagar" which is also called "Corbett City". Corbett Parks falls in Nainital District and spreads in an area of approx 1318 sq Kms.
Established in 1936 as a National Park and in 1976 as a Tiger Reserve. The major wildlife boasts approx. 169 tigers, about 600 elephants, 49 Leopards, Sloth bear, Gaur, Sambar, Hogg Deer, Cheetal, barking deer, Indian black cobra, pythons and many species of bird life. A range of hills runs through the middle of the park, with an elevation varying from 450-1200 mtrs. Forest is mainly deciduous with sal, Chir Pine tree, shisham,khair and haldu tres. Main visiting season is October to Mid June. It is easily accessible from all parts of India and lies some 260 Km to The northeast of the Indian Capital. |
